PROJECT 1A - Case Study and Thematic Research

In project 1A we are required to find a theme to study on it and deconstruct the theme that we chosen. For me, I have chosen Komorebi as my theme. I have study about Komorebi on its element, function, movement that are what we can deconstruct it into. Komorebi the main concept of it is the allow and block of the leaves for the sunlight to penetrate on the surface. It is a very poetic theme that can allow me to use it for my final design of the reconstruct project.

PROJECT 1B - Case Study and Analytic Diagram

While in project 1B we are required to find a building as our case study, then deconstruct the elements of the building. For me, I have chosen the writing with light house by Steven Holl as my case study. This house is play with the main concept of light and shadow which is using the common element of beach houses which is wooden strip with gaps that allow sunlight to penetrate into the house and create beautiful shadow on the walls. It is also inspired by the painting of Jackson Pollock, "Seven in Eight". This is a beautiful and inspiration house that can relate it back to my Komorebi concept.

PROJECT 2 - Modeling the Interpretation

In project 2 which is a combination of everything we learn in this module. First, after studying the elements of the writing with light house, now reconstruct part of the house with the concept I have chosen in the project 1A. What I have change is the facade of the house, I replaced the repetitive wooden strips with gaps into a random shape and leaf shape hole design on the wall that having the same function as the initial design which is allow light to go in the house and create shadows on the wall which is related to the main element of the concept Komorebi. In this assignment, I get to develop creative thinking and solving skills to make my assignment complete in time with satisfaction. Besides, as this projects in this module are all individual work, I get to know the importance of time managing of self time to make sure I spend time doing this assignment and make it complete in time.
