PROJECT 1 - Research in Asian Architecture

For this assignment, we are required to do a case study of an Asian Building that have the study value for us to do a report on it. For my group, we have chosen the Horyu-ji Temple that located in Japan as our case study. From this assignment, we get to know how Japan improve the vernacular architecture onto earthquake resistance design elements, there are a lot to learn and implied in new era buildings. As we know that Japan is always facing the earthquake problems, but there must be a unique way of building construction that make them resist the earthquake that are worth to study on it. Besides, I also learn the importance of dynamic of group work, every time in a groupwork, workload must be distributed evenly and fair to make sure everyone get to work with it and finish up the assignment on time. Self managing of time is also important for us to complete the distributed task and make the compilation of work success so that we can have more time to discuss on it and improve the info.

PROJECT 2- Contextual Architecture Study

After completing the first assignment, we are required to step further into the next part of this module, we are required to do a contextual architecture study of an Asian Building also with a strong relationship towards the site. For my group we have chosen the National Kaohsiung Centre for the Arts. This is a new completed project that located in Taiwan. The site previously was a former military terrain that make it become a significant memory to the Wei Wu Ying now. From the outlook, it was unique and outstanding as it takes the inspiration from the Bayan trees that is significant in Kaohsiung and implied in to the building design. Besides, the landscape design of the building is well design that create a visual harmony to the building itself, this building is definitely a contextual architecture that worth to study on it. Although this assignment is an individual assignment but the communication within the group is important to make us complete this project, besides the knowledge that we learn throughout the lecture class and tutorial class are useful for us to implied it into the project so that we can have a guideline on it.
