Building Construction 2
This subject aims to introduce structures as architecture by developing an understanding of the structural systems in construction technology in a way in relation to historical and innovative buildings. This subjects have 2 projects, firstly, Skeletal Construction which requires student to build a temporary bus shelter to understand how the structural systems support the shelter. Secondly, Construction Model, which requires students to build a existing building from the assigned category, while my group was assigned to build a grid shell construction.

Project 1 - Skeletal Construction ( Temporary Bus Shelter)

This assignment emphasis on the supporting structural in construction. Besides students need to apply the construction system in design and also recognise the implication of construction system in design. Students also need to analyse the issues of strength, stiffness and stability of structures including modes of structural systems, forces, stress and strain and laws of static. Students are required to build a temporary bus shelter with 1:5 scale that forms with two provided forms as design. From this assignment I learned to embody Taylor's core values and also locate, extract, synthesise and utilise information effectively.
Project 2 - CONSTRUCTION MODEL

This assignment required students to analyse and identify the basic structural systems in construction, and also differentiate in terms of loads and forces acting on structural elements. This projects also required students to find a exist structural with selected category and studies about the structural and do a physical mode. Above are the boards and model progress. Our groups chosen the Camellia Gridshell Pavilion which also known as Lafayette Strong Pavilion as our building to studies. From this assignment I have learned about the dynamic of group works that allow us to complete the assignment in time.
