PROJECT 1 - Structural Design Post Mortem

In this assignment, we are required to used one of our group member's Semester 3 Studio Final as the building to modify. After selecting the building, we are required to find out the problems of the building and fix the structural problem to make sure the building achieve feasibility, strength, rigidity, economy, stability and optimization. In this assignment, I get to know more about how the structural system work, how the placement of structural system can optimize it function in the building, the selection of material and others. Besides, I also know that the importance of thinking and solving skills that make us to think and solve question by ourselves so that we can make the group work goes smooth, we also get to make this become a lifelong learning as this can help us in our future carrier.

PROJECT 2 - Structural Analysis of Bungalow

For the next assignment, it is an individual assignment that requires us to analysis the structural system of a Bungalow. In this assignment, we are required to find a house which is not more than 300 sqm as our case study, then produce the structural plan, tributary area of column plan, the load plan and others, then calculate the load of 2 beams and 2 columns of the building. From this assignment, I get to learn about the basic calculation of load and forces that act on the structural system in the building and also basic knowledge of building structure so that it can make us communicate with the engineers in future. Then I also learned to discipline specific knowledge which is able to relate all the knowledge from lecture class into this assignment, besides, time management is also critic to make us complete this assignment in time.
