DESIGN STUDIO II

This is the further subject of Design Studio 1. This module introduced the principles and method of analysis, abstraction and synthesis in design thinking that are common to many design fields. The key emphasis is "Users and Context", which investigate the relationship between users and natural environment. There are 3 projects in this module. First project is "Famous Architects, Fabulous houses" which is analyse diagram based on the assign building. Second project is "Gazebo" which is design two gazebos to place in Taman Tugu Negara. Third project is "Weekend Lodging" which is designing weekend house that relate back to its surrounding which is KL eco forest park. 

Project 1 - Fabulous Architects  Fabulous Houses

This project required students to investigate how spaces are created from the making of architectural elements: architectonics and use pure and diagrammatic models to express the architectural idea would also be in cooperated into this assignment. Above photo are the arrangement of my group presentation and photo below are the diagrammatic models we made. From this assignment I learned to understand the team dynamics and mobilize the power of teams to finish this assignment in time. Then, I get to understand professional  practice within the field of study.

Project 2 - Gazebo

This assignment required students to design two gazebo that each will be placing at active zone and passive zone in Taman Tugu Negara. This project main task is to train students to generate structure, form, space through architectural conceptualisation with the emphasis of user requirement, ergonomics and site responding to develop an architectural position. From this assignment I understand to define and analyze problems to arrive at the effective solutions. Besides, I also able to put theories into practice so that I get to finish this assignment with my teammates. 

Project 3 - Weekend Lodging

This project required students to conduct site analysis of physical context with a big group of members. Then design a weekend lodging that served function of living area, bathroom, dining area, bedroom and etc in KL Eco Forest Park, in the same time considered the relationship between the site and design of the weekend lodging is unique to its landscape and activity. This assignment required students to use all the theories and skills that we learned from the previous assignment and module to complete this assignment. From this assignment I get to improve my thinking in a more critical and creative way. Besides I also get to learned independently.
