DESIGN STUDIO III

This studio emphasizes on the poetic and experiential of spaces in architecture. In this module students are required to explore spatial typologies and poetic in architecture, then concept of neighborhood and community to fit into their design. There are 2 projects in this subjects, first, Journey of 5 senses, students have to engage with literature studies and interpretation as well as translating into design of different spatial typologies. Subsequently, the major project involves the design of small scale community building which is Visitor Interpretive Centre in open landscape/suburban condition which engages with the spirit of place inherent within the site, the site  topography, history and socio-cultural events. 

Project 1 - Journey of 5 Senses

This assignment required students to design two memorial, one linear one concentric with its poetic meaning. From this assignment, I have learned about communication skills which is communicate appropriately in various settings and modes to complete this assignment with my group mates in time. 

Project 2 - Visitor Interpretive Centre

This assignment required students to choose from 2 site and analyse the site about the cultural essence and also the site surrounding to design a Visitor Interpretive Centre there. From this assignment, I learned about  discipline specific knowledge which is able to put theories that I learned from lecture class into my design. Besides, I also get to understand ethical issues in the context of the architecture and also professional practice within the field of study.
