ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABLE DESIGN
This module introduces students to environmental issues and provides some in-depth understanding of the complexities and interactions that the design and construction professions have to deal with to contain some of the irreversible damage that human settlement causes to the environment. There is only one project for this module which is "My Community My Commitment" that is an environmental based life community project that required students to serve themselves in a charity work.
Project 1 - My Community My Commitment
The aim of this project is to create environmental and community awareness and responsibility in architecture students. We are to propose and execute an environmental based community project. This community related project aims to introduce the skills necessary to use their knowledge of design and nature as a tool for addressing challenges in sustainability. For this assignment, we get to contact and help an orphanage that located in Kepong. We went there for site visit and figured out the issues they faced and looked for solutions. We visited the Orphanage for 3 times, first time for site visit, second time for cleaning up the garden and third time was installed furnitures. This assignment last for almost two months time, in that period we have meeting for every week to discuss about the details and solutions for the orphanage, we spent lots of time and energy to make sure this assignment goes well. From this assignment I learned to communicate appropriately in various setting and modes with group members and also be aware of and from opinions from diverse perspectives.
