PROJECT 1 - Preliminary Studies

The preliminary studies is an assignment about urban study on place making aspects. It will help the student to analyze the site character and identify conditions of the urban streetscape and urban behavioural patterns. Besides, by analyzing the case studies will also gain more understanding of architectural response for urban block sites and for spatial programming to inform the design project. The urban site that was chosen for this semester is Kajang. The site context is the area covering Jalan Tukang and Jalan Sulaiman at the old town Kajang.

PROJECT 2 - Kajang Learning Art Centre

For project 2, after knowing the urban site context, students are required to design a Learning Art Centre with the considerations of site context, site issues and community. This Learning Art Centre is design to revive Kajang old town, and also make a connections within the community. Students can depends on the surrounding site or site issues to have their design narrative and design intention. Yet in this project, students are either doing one main function to become a specific usage centre or using learning as a medium to become a community based learning art centre.
